Inductive Nord Drum 3P Randomizer

This is a quick editor / randomizer for use with the Nord Drum 3P. There are additional notes in the patch. Make sure to set your midi device to ‘A’ in Options -> Midi Setup -> Abbrev.

Made with MaxMSP but runs fine with the demo.

This patch was made to give a more interesting starting point for sound design than a simple init patch. Very rarely will you hit the random button and get a complete usable sound. The idea is to come at design from a different point than you are comfortable with.

Notes: This is made to work on one pad (channel) at a time. Pick the Pad Channel and then also use the channel select button on the nord drum to select the pattern you are editing. It isn't required to change to the current channel on the nord drum, but it makes it much easier to remember which pad is selected on the hardware (I tend to use the Trig button on the nord while I am working on a sound).

Randomize All will randomize all the parameters for the current pad. The knobs will only reflect the current settings on the nord if you run the randomizer or move them. The hardware doesn't send out current setting unless you dump the whole patch out via sysex. It seems like it would be more work than it is worth.

Also, this is made for sound design and not sequencing. Keep in mind the way the Tone Decay Mode and Nose Decay Mode work. The last 50 values are Dynamic Decay Mode. If you find your sound seems to have way more decay than you want and turning down the decay setting doesn't shorten it up, check that the decay mode values are set fairly low.
